What is QuickCast?

QuickCast, developed by 3D Systems, is a proprietary 3D printing technology designed to enhance the investment casting process. Using advanced Stereolithography (SLA), it produces highly detailed, lightweight resin patterns that burn out cleanly, leaving precise mould cavities for metal casting. By enabling rapid prototyping and accurate production of complex parts, QuickCast significantly reduces lead times and is widely valued in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial manufacturing where precision and speed are essential.

How Does QuickCast Work?

  • Design Phase: A digital 3D model of the desired part is created using CAD software.

  • 3D Printing: The model is printed using an SLA printer, which builds the pattern layer-by-layer from a photopolymer resin.

  • Lattice Structure: Unlike solid patterns, QuickCast designs feature a unique hollow hexagonal lattice interior that reduces material usage and allows the pattern to burn out   more efficiently during the casting process.

  • Investment Casting: The printed pattern is coated with ceramic to form a mould. The resin is then removed by burnout, and molten metal is poured into the cavity left behind to   create the final part.
